Hae Eun Shin
Introduction
Hae Eun Shin holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in the Department of Anthropology at Seoul National University. The title of her master’s thesis is “North Korea on Stage: The Case of a North Korean Refugee Performing Arts Troupe.” She received PhD in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, with the dissertation titled “Trauma, National Belonging, and Politics: The Cultural Production of North Korean Arrivals in South Korea Under the Cold War Legacy.” She is interested in the intertwined dynamics of migrants’ national belonging, cultural production, politics, and trauma. Additionally, she explores the intersection between Korean ethnic nationalism and the Cold War legacy, with a focus on North Korean migrants.
